Some areas in Nova Scotia are inhabited by creatures found only in a few places in the entire world. The flying squirrel, for example, rare in Canada, is thriving in Kejimkujik National Park, Annapolis County. Nocturnal creatures with shy habits, they make their homes in the trees on Nova Scotia's largest inland park. In fact, the Park occupies a great expanse of central Nova Scotia, and makes for excellent hiking and camping trips where you can experience these rare creatures up close.

People from around the world have come to Kejimkujik National Park--in the summer, that is. But the winter provides a much more fascinating view. Keji is such a striking area that to avoid camping it in the winter just because of cooler temperatures, is almost a crime.

The wildlife is more at ease, and more easily seen, you can skate on the lakes, hike through the trails, or photograph the spectacular scenery. And there is a peace in the air that simply cannot be felt during the peak of summer season.
