Although
the first recorded snowboard construction was in 1929, the first
commercial product was offered by Shervin Popper, a surfer wanting to
provide a tool to allow comrades to continue their sport during the
winter on snow rather than water. The Snurfer was offered to the world
in the late '60s. The rest is history.
In fact, January 20th to January 28th is National Ski and Snowboard Week. The folks at Ski Martock, Martock, Hants County honour the event every year. They host the NSSA Competition GS/HP/BX and offer exciting and entertaining snowboard demonstrations. Where else would you choose to snow board in Nova Scotia but the place with the greatest slope reputation? At Ski Martock, ( http://beam.to/snowboardmartock ) the only mosquitoes biting are the ones done by huckers. |
