Photography has been around in one way or another for hundreds of years. In fact, the Egyptians enjoyed the most primitive form, a sunlit image viewed on a dark tent wall through a pinhole. Retreating from the hot sun into darkened tents, they watched the images as they were cast upside-down on an opposite wall -- viewed right side up by a reclining form.

Far removed from the heat of Egypt, and much more technologically advanced, photography has become a favorite pastime for many.

Here in Nova Scotia, the white of snow and bareness of the trees makes for spectacular and striking winter photography. Venture out on your own, or arrange for a professional to walk you through some of the most fascinating visual areas in Nova Scotia.

Feel free to check out the Nova Scotia Photography Guild's website for a professional near you. He or she just might be offering a winter field trip.
